Stardock Entertainment announced today that it has reached an agreement to publish Ironclad Games’ genre-defining strategy game, Sins of a Solar Empire, bringing the title to TotalGaming.net and retail stores across North America in August 2007 for a suggested retail price of $39.95. Sins of a Solar Empire represents the birth of the RT4X genre, seamlessly blending spectacular tactical combat with grand-scale space strategy. Players must conquer worlds, engage in diplomacy and trade with other civilizations, and use the resources at their disposal to enhance their economy, develop new technology and increase military power.
The expansion also introduces resource-rich asteroid belts, unique planets requiring advanced technology to colonize, spies to assist or prevent destabilization and sabotage, an Epic Generator that creates a unique story from each game played, advanced diplomatic treaties, new ship components, improved AI options and much more. Galactic Civilizations II: Dark Avatar will be released digitally — without the hassles of copy protection.
Stardock also revealed its new worldwide publishing division, operating as Stardock Entertainment, which will focus on marketing and distribution of top-quality independently-developed games. With a progressive revenue-sharing model, leading advertising, marketing and public relations services, as well as worldwide online and retail distribution, Stardock Entertainment aims to be a reliable partner for game developers.The game has shipped over 100,000 copies worldwide making it one of the best selling strategy games of 2003. A person can purchase Galactic Civilizations at retail anywhere in the world and use their unique serial # to download the full latest/greatest version of the game – even if they don’t have the CD that came with the game. Even years from now, if the user has lost their CD, all they need is their serial # (and if they lost that, they can use Stardock’s automated serial lookup to email them their lost serial #) and can re-download the full game via Stardock’s Drengin.net game network free of charge.
